Moving to Kraemer OE

We started our second day, July 16th, by motoring halfway out Mikisfjord. There we dropped the dinghy and half the crew went ashore to go look at the remains of an old base, back when they search for minerals in the area.

We were astonished by the number of barrels of jet fuel left behind. Almost all of them stamped 2010.

While the rest of the crew got there turn on shore, the youngster onboard figured he should try his fishing luck. Unfortunately, he only caught icebergs.

We then headed out the rest of Mikisfjord and turned towards Kraemer OE. Blue skies, calm seas and Icebergs made for a pleasant cruise along the coast.

We anchored in a bay on the southeast corner of Kraemer OE. The entrance to the bay is tricky, and since the chart aren’t that detailed, there are even island that are not on the map. But with a slow approach, we got in without bottoming out. We dropped the anchor and then took two lines ashore from the stern. With this setup, we were ready for anything.

After we were all tied up, Catrine served up some freshly made bread, making for a happy crew ready to explore the area.
